Engineers love to solve problems
Josh Malcolm and Neil Bramley are no exception.
As kids, Josh and Neil spent their time solving mechanical problems together, usually figuring out how to make their homemade go-karts faster. That curiosity stuck with them. Years later, both became mechanical engineers, built careers, and settled on rural properties of their own. Today, that idea has grown into a team of hundreds around the world, and with warehousing and distribution across the United States, working to put equipment into the hands of landowners.
As landowners, they quickly realized that quality forestry equipment came at a premium, while lower-priced options lacked the durability and design to hold up. There was nothing that delivered both performance and value. So in 2009, Josh and Neil sat down and began to solve that problem.
The answer was Woodland Mills.

The quest for quality
From the beginning, the goal was simple. Build equipment with strong performance and solid construction at a price landowners could justify. Josh and Neil focused on practical engineering, efficient manufacturing, and selling directly to customers to remove unnecessary markups and put more into the product itself.
The first product was a portable sawmill designed for acreage owners. It needed to be tough enough for real work while delivering the precision of higher-priced mills. After extensive design, testing, and refinement, they developed a solution that struck that balance. That machine became the HM126, a sawmill that would go on to define the brand.
Expanding the lineup
Following the success of the HM126, the lineup expanded to meet the needs of a wider range of landowners. The HM130 brought increased capacity for larger logs, while the HM122 offered a more compact option for smaller-scale work. Together, these sawmills built a reputation for dependable performance and strong value.
As demand grew, so did the product lineup. Woodland Mills introduced trailers, wood chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment designed to support landowners across a wide range of applications. Today, the focus remains the same. Build equipment that works hard, holds up, and helps landowners get more from their property.
Manufacturing excellence
Delivering that level of performance at an accessible price required a different approach to manufacturing. After a comprehensive global search, Woodland Mills partnered with a manufacturing team in China that meets strict engineering and quality standards while maintaining efficiency at scale.
Working closely with this team for nearly two decades, the process is built around precision, consistency, and accountability. Every machine is fully assembled and inspected before leaving the facility, then carefully prepared for shipment so what arrives at your property is ready to perform.
Dedicated support
From the beginning, Josh and Neil recognized that too many companies focused on the sale, not the customer experience that follows. They set out to build a company where support and service matched the quality of the equipment itself.
Today, that commitment shows in the feedback from thousands of landowners, woodworkers, and equipment owners who rely on Woodland Mills. Every team member is focused on making the experience seamless from research to delivery, setup, and beyond. It is a hands-on, people-first approach designed to ensure you are supported every step of the way.
Today, Woodland Mills supports landowners across North America and around the world, with a continued focus on building equipment that performs and backing it with support customers can count on.
