Turning Blades Into Art

Sawyer Showcase:

Jeremiah Transforms Old Sawmill Blades Into Art

This Woodlander Repurposes Blades For His Armature Sculptures

Your old Woodland Mills Portable Sawmill Bandsaw Blades which are worn out are junk and should be thrown out, right?

Well, they could be. Or they could be recycled to create beautiful hand-crafted art.

Jeremiah is a HM126 owner and a well-known contributor to the Woodland Mills Product Owners & Community for his unique metal sculptures and beautiful wood carvings of fish.

Located in a rural city in West Michigan his home is a short walk to a world-class steelhead fishing river.

This artist uses recycled metals and other materials to create sculptures of butterflies, spiders, flowers and other flora and fauna which he then sells for a living. But fish has always been a passion for him.

"The salmon, trout and walleye fishing is pretty good too. I won a fishing contest when I was three and had been hooked ever since," said Jeremiah. "My kids mainly all followed their own paths, but say they wish they’d paid more attention to me when I was showing them how to do things. I still buy them tools for holiday and birthday gifts and they love them."

"I have hundreds of sawblades that were given to me from another Woodland Mills sawmill owner and of my own that I plan to make more art out of. I do have plans to use some old blades to make an eagle."

Does any of Jeremiah's projects inspire you to do something creative with your used sawmill blades? Or maybe you already have done something fun and ingenious with them? Feel free to share your ideas and projects with our community on Facebook.
