Sawmill Maintenance Kit FAQ
Let's go over what the kit includes and why it's an important maintenance tool
Want to keep your Woodland Mills portable sawmill in top shape so you can reduce downtime and keep your productivity high?
We suggest the Sawmill Maintenance Kit, which comes loaded with high-wear parts to help keep your sawmill in great condition so you can continue to mill without worrying.
So let's go over the basics of it.
What's included in the maintenance kit?
Inside the maintenance kits are the following items:
-
-
Two belts (drive belt and follower belt)
-
Four guide blocks
-
Four blade guide bearings
-
One bearing for the tensioner idler pully
-
Four bearings for the bandwheels
-
Let's go through each component and see why they're included:
Drive Belts
Belt kits are sawmill model specific, and when selecting your belts you'll also need to select the year of your model, since that impacts what belts are compatible.
Your belt options include:
-
-
HM122 & 722 Bandwheel Belts
-
HM126/HM130 & HM130MAX Bandwheel Belts
-
HM136MAX Bandwheel Belts
-
After selecting your maintenance kit, if there's an option to pick the year of your sawmill, you'll need to select that. For example, for HM122 belts, you'll need to pick between whether you have a mill from 2016 to 2019 or 2020 and newer.
Inside the box you'll find two belts: the drive belt and the follower belt.
These are our latest BK series Kevlar belts, providing the greatest longevity.
Guide Blocks
The guide blocks are installed above and below the blade at a precise clearance. These are key to your sawmill cutting straight each time.
You'll need to select the model year for your sawmill when checking out to ensure you get the correct components for your sawmill.
Blade Guide Bearings
The blade guide bearings go behind the blade, providing cutting force to your sawmill when you're pushing through a lot.
The kit includes four bearings, so while your sawmill is equipped with two, you will have extras to keep your downtime low.
Also be sure to select the correct year for your model to ensure we ship you the correct blade guide bearings for your mill.
Bandwheel Bearings
These replacement bearings are used in the bandwheels and are a key component that keeps your sawmill running smoothly.
Each cast iron bandwheel contains two bearings stacked and held together with a circlet. We recommend if you see any wear or failure that you replace both bearings inside the bandwheel.
Because of this these bearings are sold in sets of four to ensure you always have a spare set.
Why should I buy a maintenance kit?
The Sawmill Maintenance Kit includes replacement parts for key wear points on the sawmill. Over time these parts may wear down and require replacement. The maintenance kit provides multiple replacement components so you can simply change out any worn parts and return to milling quickly.
With this set you have the peace of mind knowing when something wears out that it won't cause unnecessary downtime for your mill.
With tens of thousands of positive reviews and many happy customers with years of hands-on experience with their sawmills, we know your mill is an investment and we want to help keep your mill running as long as possible.
What other maintenance does a sawmill need?
The maintenance kit includes everything you need to ensure your mill is always running when you need it.
The other part you'll want to do preventative maintenance on is the engine, which includes regular oil changes and refueling.
Aside from that, follow all regular best practices for mill maintenance. Sweep up and clean out any sawdust sitting in or around your mill. Remove any obstructions from your track. Use sharp blades and replace or sharpen them once they begin to dull.
