What to do when a tree falls on your house
Sawyer Showcase:
Erik turns disaster into opportunity when a tree crashes through his roof
A massive Ponderosa Pine fell on this sawyer's home, and now he has material for his next project
Erik was sitting at home, on a call with his daughter who was across the world, when the massive 80-foot pine tree in his back yard fell, crashing into his roof.
It was a near miss that could have ended tragically, but thankfully Erik and his wife were okay, and after a panic to try and get the roof sealed up during a tremendous storm, he was left with a great log to use for his next building project.
The sawyer, who runs the YouTube channel A Farm West of Boring, shared how he cut apart the huge log which fell onto his house, and shared with Woodland Mills his plans for the tree.
He also shared some other ways he saves trees from going into the landfill, and how he forms connections with local tree companies to get free logs.
It's just a few of the ways inventive sawyers think about how to get timber and save material from going to waste.
Thanks for sharing Erik!
